About the Shows:
“Dance to the Moon” book by Megan Levaque, play adaptation by Heather Ostberg Johnson and Deanna Mae, music by Kimberly Woodman
Dance to the Moon is a children’s book about two children, Olivia and Milo, on an adventure to dance to the moon. Along the way they meet a squirrel, an owl, and a bear who all discourage their dream and tell them it isn’t possible. However, Olivia and Milo persevere and meet an unlikely new friend on the moon.
“The Butterfly Brigade” by Deanna Mae and Daniel Goldschmidt
A S.T.E.A.M. influenced musical where children are invited into the story as we explore the fascinating life cycle of a butterfly. With original music (some completed with your help!) kids will go on a journey through the senses discovering how caterpillars grow into butterflies through metamorphosis – a puzzling process with an amazing result. The friendships on stage may go through similar changes before the show is over. Join us as we discover that we, too, can grow into something great after something unexpected.
Theatre for the Very Young (TVY):
Both shows will be done in TVY format with a focus on shared storytelling with the audience and interaction above and beyond normal children’s theatre standards to engage the youngest audience members amongst us. The fourth wall is broken inviting children ages 0-6 and their families to be immersed into the story. (Learn more here.)
What we are looking for:
